“Madama Butterfly” “The MET Opera Live HD Experience” July 2022 By @SupaFlyOne

Can you speak Italian? Can you understand Italian Operas?

If not… neither can I but opera is one of my recent artistic interests and good for me and my study of the classical art The MET Opera (The Metropolitan Opera) : Live HD 2022-23 season has captions. I was able to follow along with the show. Many operas are written and performed in Italian did you know that? What is the Madama Butterfly Opera about? What did I think about the show over all and my thoughts about my experience viewing it at the movie theater?

Opera incorporates singing and theatrics and if I am not mistaken maybe a little dance as well such as ballet. I am trying to invest more time watching and learning about classical style arts. I have always been into history and as I am getting older I find that I like to experience things of leisure like ritzy people throughout history.

This particular opera by description resonated with me due to a few things. It was based in Japan, featured an American soldier, and the main plot was a relatable one that has been relevant for all time. It is the story of a mother, a child, and a distant unreliable unfaithful father. A relationship problem that still occurs and happens today and in similar ways.

“Madama Butterfly” Is the opera that I saw. It was playing at a theatre as a part of The Met Opera Live HD experience. This opera was performed and pre-recorded in 2008.

The performance was great. I am not expert in the great voices of opera but the vocals of the singers were loud and strong. The music was very emotional and I really liked the sound of the orchestra. The musicians of the MET are some of the best players in the world and they sounded great.

The set designs were intriguing and this performance even incorporated elements of classical Japanese performance such as people dressed in all black, who were to be unseen, that animated objects physically such as birds and other animals. I really like how they visualized the blood at the end of performance. I believe that this is a tragedy style drama. You must check it out to see what I mean.

The screen was large and the video was clear. The ticket was $25 a little pricey for a movie but this is not just a movie it was a MET OPERA performance. You could hear and see everything very well.

This movie theatre was clean and even offered very comfortable reclining chairs. I chose to eat some nachos and a drink before the show started because I arrived early. I do not like to eat during the movies or performances because the noise can be distracting and can also make it hard for one to hear when chewing.

The audience of the movie theater was quiet and attentive. I would guess they behaved in the same way that people would at live show even applauding at the end.

The performance was long, over 2 hours, and just like at a real show, thankfully, there was a 15 minute intermission for attendees to stretch, maybe grab some refreshments, and use the restrooms. I really needed the break it can be hard for me to sit comfortably for long periods of time.

Although I am sure that a live performance would be a little more exciting and include a lot more viewers it was still very enjoyable. During intermission people even chatted a little about what they thought so far about the performance and also shared about their previous opera experiences which was dope. These interactions and gave a sense of community.

If you see me at a screening be sure to chat with me. I would love to hear to hear some interesting facts about your opera experiences. I am usually alone and could use some acquaintances to join at future events such as this.

“Let Your Hair Down” A Song Snippet By @SupaFlyOne

I always encourage people to pursue their dreams and to be creative. I have always enjoyed playing music and singing. I think they are the best forms of creative expression.

My style of singing is inspired by Nat King Cole and the way he sings in a calm soothing natural tone. My song lyrics take notes from James Brown and are focused on being simple but catchy. I created this song all on my own. I did my own recording and created the music.

Check out the snippet of my song “Let Your Hair Down” below on Instagram.

I am looking for a producer to work with to help with the levels and recording of my works. If you know someone who would be interested in helping me curate my music have them contact me.

Once I have finalised my songs I would like to release hard copy Cd’s.I would also like to create some visuals to go along with some songs as well.

#CODA An Inspirational Film About Manifesting One’s Destiny

I had the luxury of pre-screening the movie CODA, an original Apple movie, on Apple TV, thanks to @Gofobo.

This heartwarming film is about a teen named Ruby who, with some encouragement from her high school choir teacher, chose to follow her dream of becoming a singer and attending Julliard College of music.I found it heartwarming, encouraging and supportive of manifest destiny theory.

In the movie Ruby tries to gain her families acceptance of her dream but finds it difficult because she is the only hearing member in her family. Her older brother, mother, and father are all deaf.

They have no idea of her talents and in their world sound does not exist. Her family operates a small fishing operation where she serves as their only link to the world of sound.

Ruby’s family doesn’t understand her love of music or singing and she does not know how to get them to relate but based on the support of her peers and her teacher they soon learn that she has talent and choose, in the end, to support her endeavors.

Along her journey Ruby even helps her family to understand that all though limited they too should pursue their dreams of expanding their fishing operation and encourages them to try because despite being deaf they are capable, they are opinionated, and they are intelligent enough to do so. Her family feels like they can’t deal with those who can hear but guess what ever since she was born they have done it.She encourages them and just like her they too must try in order to fulfill their dream despite feeling incapable or insecure.

I enjoyed the movie it was an Sundance film festival award winning film and I can see why. It moves very smoothly and you hardly notice the long length. There are so many lessons involved. The movie contains elements of love, understanding, compassion and acceptance. It also highlights some of life’s important decisions like the choice to pursue a dream or go to college.

The main messages I feel is this “trying is the first step towards making a dream come true”.

“You can never never know if you have what it takes if don’t try.”

This is a great movie to inspire and encourage people to pursue their dreams. At times it may be hard you may feel you are not good enough but if you try the universe sometimes will make your way. It will help you see things differently than you would if you didn’t try. I believe this is called manifest destiny.

You must give effort despite being afraid or unsure so that the universe can give you guidance and show you more options.Once you try you will begin to understand that failure is only one option not the only option.

Check out his heartwarming movie on Apple TV. Watch it with a loved ones and be inspired. Maybe you too will gain the courage to manifest your dreams. You must try.
